Bio

Georgia R. Fread, 88, of rural Pleasanton, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Evangelical Free Church in Pleasanton. Rev. Chris Boucher and Rev. Darrell Holzinger will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery northwest of Pleasanton. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements. Georgia Rose Fread was born October 10, 1929 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Wayne and Maude (Loyd) Evans. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1948. She taught at Willow Dell School for two years. She married John Fread on December 10, 1950 in Mason City. The couple made their home and farmed in southeastern Custer County. Georgia was a founding member of the Evangelical Free Church in Pleasanton and taught Awana at the church. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Fread of Pleasanton and David (Grace) Fread of Brazil, two daughters, Debra (Martin) Jelken of Franklin and Dottie (Jim) Zirnig of Ravenna, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother, Calvin (Francis) Evans of Ansley and sisters-in-law, Elline Evans of Litchfield, Ann Evans of Kearney, Barbara Evans of Lincoln, Juanita Beckham of Pleasanton, Violet Fread of Kearney and Marlene Fread of Pleasanton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, her parents, seven brothers, Ronald, B. Dean, Wayne Jr., Lester, Lloyd, Roger and Danny and six sisters, Marjorie, Carol, Karen, Phyllis, Jane and Joan.
