Wilburn L.* Watson was born 11 February 1886 at Winnsboro, Wood County, Texas. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Watson, Sr., a native of Georgia, and Dallas (Brown) Watson, a native of Winnsboro, Texas. Wilburn married Vicie Holland on 12 Jan 1908 at Wood County, Texas. Wilburn and Vicie had one son, Chester A. Watson, born Feb of 1909. The family lived in Yanis, Texas, in 1910. Wilburn and Vicie divorced. Wilburn moved to Picher, Oklahoma/Treece, Kansas mining area with his parents and several brothers. He worked in the lead and zinc mining industry. Wilburn served in the U.S. Military; service date 14 Mar 1919. Wilburn died 13 Jun 1942 at the Veterans Administration hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas, where he had been hospitalized for two years. Funeral services were held on Thursday, 18 Jun 1942, at the Reising funeral home chapel, Kansas City, Kansas. Wilburn was survived by his only sister, Lela Watson Woodin of Gilmer, Texas, and his youngest brother, Charles H. Watson of Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Monjoe "Joe, Ben, James Sylvester, Barney,** and Earmon Hayden Watson. Note: *Census records show Wilburn's middle initial as "H.". The veterans records and death certificate show the middle initial as "L." for the name "Levi". **Barney's death date unknown; not listed in the obituaries as surviving his mother or brothers.
