Died at 9:15 p.m. Friday at his home in Gloster, Miss. Age 62. A native of Gloster, he was a member of the Masons, the Shriners, and was former commander of the Liberty Post 76 of the American Legion. Was city clerk in Gloster for 35 years, was a former president of the Mississippi Insurance Agents Assn. and was a deacon in the Galilee Baptist Church in Gloster for 35 years. Served as colonel on the staffs of two Mississippi governors, and was very active in Red Cross and Boy Scout work. Was a wearer of the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award. Services at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Galilee Baptist Church, followed by burial in Roselawn [sic Roseland] Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home in Gloster in charge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Butler Adams; one son, Jesse L. Adams Jr., Gloster; one daughter, Mrs. Alice A. Latham, Great Lakes, Ill., and four grandchildren.
