Bio
Son of Clyde and Cristine (Rawle) Spain. He married Mavis Hammon on March 11, 1945 in Simsboro, LA. He was a minister for over 75 years and was presently a member of Eagle Drive Baptist Church. He pastored churches in Jacksboro and Dumas, TX, then in Roswell, NM, and retired from pastoring in Dallas, TX. After retiring from church leadership, he and Mavis traveled the nation ministering to churches. During the summers, they ministered at Silver State Baptist Youth Camp in Sedalia, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Leona Burke, Warren Spain, Emodene Atkins, Alma Maxey; and son, Clyde Edward "Ed" Spain*. Surviving are are his wife of 75 years, Mavis Spain of Decatur; sons, Glen Spain and wife, Phyllis of Sachse, and Curtis Spain and wife, Sharolyn of Mesquite; daughter-in-law, Vicki (Lasater) Spain of Decatur; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Spain and wife, Dean; and sister, Nel Stone. *d. 17 Jun 2016, Ft.
