Bio

Annie Nemec Kana of Stafford, formerly of Blessing, died March 25, 2010 at the age of 87. She was born July 6, 1922 in Schulenberg to the late Karel "Charles" and Eufrasina Fojtik Nemec. She worked at Camp Hulen in Palacios during WWII and Blessing American Legion after she and her husband retired from farming. She was a member of the KJZT and a former member of the St. Peter's Altar Society. She is survived by her sons, Paul Anthony Kana and wife Pauline of Richmond and Francis Joseph Kana and wife Jayme of Bossier City, La.; daughter, Patricia Ann Hogan of Stafford; brother, Richard Nemec and wife Nanette of Katy; sisters, Agnes Klekar of Luling and Georgia Dorotik and husband Jerome of El Campo; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan Kana; son, William Kana; sisters, Marie Hickl and Elizabeth Pesek; and brothers, Anton, Charles and Joe Nemec. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to noon Monday at Triska Funeral Home. A parish rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing. The funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Blessing with Rev. Samuel Appiasi officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
