Joseph William "Joe" Nemec of Midfield died March 4, 2010, at the age of 89. He was born on Aug. 20, 1920, in Schulenburg, to the late Karl "Charles" and Eufrasina Fojtik Nemec. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII as staff sergeant, was a retired carpenter and a lifelong member of the KJT. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Bauer Nemec of Midfield; sons, Joe Nemec and wife Christine of Corpus Christi, Tony Nemec and wife Barbara of El Campo, Mike Nemec and wife Debbie of El Campo, Danny Nemec and wife Debbie of El Campo, James Nemec and wife Kris of San Angelo, Jeff Nemec and wife Debbie of Markham, Timmy Nemec and wife Mary of El Campo, Christopher Nemec and wife Susan of Layfette, La.; daughters, Cathy Cornejo and husband Rick of Edna, Cheri Billings and husband Sandy of Kemah, Lory Sloop and husband Steven of Many, La.; brother, Richard Nemec and wife Nanette of Katy; sisters, Annie Kana of Richmond, Agnes Klekar of Luling, Georgia Dorotik and husband Jerome of El Campo; 31 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa Nemec; brothers, Anton and Charles Nemec; and sisters, Marie Hickl and Elizabeth Pesek. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with a parish rosary being offered at 6 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing with the Rev. Samuel Appiasi officiating. Graveside services will follow with military honors at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.
