Transcription of Obituary from The Bryan Weekly Eagle, Wednesday, 20 July 1932 Funeral Service At Steep Hollow for Aged Citizen Isaac Holligan, aged 82 years and 8 days, one of the sturdy pioneers of Brazos county, passed peacefully to rest after a lingering illness Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at the home of his son, J. L. Holligan, in the Steep Hollow community. At 10 o'clock Monday morning at Steep Hollow church funeral services were held with Rev. Charley E. Bullock, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hearne and lifelong friend of the deceased, conducting the service. After songs and prayers and the sermon by Rev. Bullock in the old church where this honored citizen had worshipped more than half a century, the body was taken to the Steep Hollow cemetery nearby and interred in the Holligan family lot. Born in Alabama in 1850 and coming to the then wild west of Texas when a young man, I. J. Holligan grew into manhood and spent the years of his life in this section of the state. He was a successful and prosperous farmer and fruit grower and made his home the center of his activities and the ideal of his life. Today his bereaved ones are extended sincere sympathy in his passing. Beside his widow the deceased is also survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. L. J. Neal of Warren, Mrs. L. E. Morehead and Mrs. Will Terry of Bryan, W. M. Holligan of Bryan and J. L. Holligan of Steep Hollow. The funeral arrangements were in charge of the McCulloch-Dansby Co. of Bryan.
