Richard A. "Dick" Chloupek, age 87, of Kearney, formerly of Litchfield, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 at Mount Carmel Keens Memorial in Kearney. Dick was born on July 11, 1934 in Seward, Nebraska to Hubert 'Hub' and Lucille Kominek Chloupek. He was a graduate of the class of 1951 from Litchfield Public School. Dick married Elizabeth 'Betty' Ripp on July 27, 1955 at St. John Capistrano Catholic Church in Amherst. During his working career, he was a dairy and crop farmer for much of his life. Dick also worked for Henningson's plant in Ravenna, helped build public housing in Loup City as well as Sherman County Dam, and also worked at Coleman's in Kearney. What started out as a hobby for Dick and wife Betty, turned into a lifelong business, raising AKC registered puppies of many breeds. He was an avid reader, from comic books as a youth, to western novels as an adult. Dick was proceeded in death by daughters Michelle, Candia and Mary; sons Jan Joseph and Kile; parents Hubert and Lucille Chloupek; in laws Bernadene and Alvin Bauer; and a brother-in-law Duane Garrelts.
