Matilda Kocurek September 13, 1926 — July 2, 2022 Matilda Julia Kocurek was born September 13, 1926 in Frenstat, Texas to Richard Gaas and Mary Marshalik Gaas. She flew into the loving care of Jesus on July 2, 2022 having attained the age of 95 years. Matilda married Benedict Marion Kocurek on October 15, 1946. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. Ben passed away on May 14, 2010. Her favorite pastimes were baking, making noodles, gardening, picking pecans and peaches, sewing, quilting, and making sock monkeys. She was always stirring up something good in the kitchen. She loved spending time with all her grand and great-grandchildren. They all knew where Nana kept the candy bowl. She was a member of St. Mary's Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for more than 75 years. She was also a member of the Rosary Society, KJZT Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court of the Holy Family, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings, her son Mark Dziobala and daughter-in- law Jackie Kocurek. She is survived by her brother Milton Gaas; children Mary Jane Albert and husband Merv; Michael Kocurek; Robert Kocurek, Steve Kocurek and wife Kathy; Diana Atchison and husband Ken; Casie McCorquodale and husband Randy and Andrew Dziobala; grandchildren Ashley Hutchison and husband Michael; Christopher Kocurek and wife Melissa; Jonathan Kocurek; Joshua Kocurek; Stephanie Durham and husband Dustin; Tyler Kocurek and wife Hannah; Kim Cedidla and husband Brandon; Philip Yarborough and wife Gretchen; Hannah Southernwood and husband Tim and Jason McCorquodale; Great Grandchildren Travis, Gavin and Maya Hutchison; Bradley and Cameron Kocurek; Sean and Isabel Kocurek; Kayleigh and Kason Kocurek; Stella and Kerrigan Durham; Kadie Hartman and Jake Cedidla; Evelyn, Sydney and Benedict Yarborough; Carter, Haven and Josie Southernwood; Jason McCorquodale II and numerous other relatives.
