He was born May 20, 1920 to George R. Kocurek and Mary J. (Polansky) Kocurek in Deanville, Texas. Ben served his country in the U.s. Navy from December 1941 through May 1946. He married Matilda Gaas on October 15, 1946 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. He was an 87 year member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caldwell, as well as the Rosay Society, K.J.T., the choir, Knights of Columbus Council No. 6366, Past Grand Knight from 1974 - 1977, a life member of The American Legion, Post No. 451, and Caldwell Lions Club. He was the Caldwell Postmaster from 1959 - 1981. He retired July 10, 1971, after 31 years of service with the U.S. Postal Department. He enjoyed fishing as well as stamp and coin collecting. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Kocurek, twin brother, Edward and sister Georgia Russell.
