Iva was born in Moultrie County, Illinois to William Hyatt and Alice Randolph Harmison Harding. She married Hugh Alma Lane on December 25, 1913 in Medicine Lodge, Barber County, Kansas. They were the parents of 8 children: Baby Mary, Dwight, Webster, Mildred, Wiley, Johnnie, Donald and Benny.
