Webster Riley "Web" Lane, age 61 years, 10 months, and 14 days, passed away at this home in La Cygne, Kansas, Friday, June 29, 1979 at 10:30 in the evening. Web was the second son of Hugh Alva and Iva Edna Harding Lane. He was born August 15, 1917 in Lake City, Barber County, Kansas. On December 31, 1941 he was united in marriage with Gladys Maxine Beckman, the daughter of Charles and Neeva Neal Beckman at Paola, Miami County, Kansas. To this union 8 children were born, 6 sons and 2 daughters. Web was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Merriam, Kansas. He was a good and helpful friend and neighbor to many. A loving husband, father, and "Pa" to his family. He leaves to mourn his passing, Gladys, his wife, his 6 sons, William Riley of La Cygne, Robert Dean of Belton, Missouri, Benjamin Charles of Idaha Falls, Idaho, Johnnie Ray of La Cygne, Merle Gene of Creston, Iowa and Darrell Webster of Pleasanton; and his 2 daughters, Ramona Neeva of Kansas City, Kansas and Edna Fern of Springfield, Missouri. His mother-in-law, Neeva Beckman of Drexel, Missouri. His 3 brothers Wiley Mason of Salt Lake City, Utah; Johnnie Darrel of North Kansas City, Missouri and Donald Ray of St Joseph, Missouri and a sister, Mildred White of Heavner, Oklahoma. Web also leaves 17 loving grandchildren, Karyn, Joanne, Jimmie, Susan, Johny Bill, Margaret, Kellie, Sara Kaye, Brian, Tuesdae, Chris, Joie, Jerri, Michael, Kristin, Tera and Matthew. A host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Web was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Benny Layle and Dwight Hugh and infant sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday from Calvary Baptist Church in La Cygne with the Rev Howard Curry officiating. Evelyn Wade played "Beyond the Sunset", "The Speckled Bird", and "In the Garden". Pallbearers were his six sons, Billy, Bobby, Benny, Johnnie, Merle and Darrell. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne. Though he is gone, he will forever be with us.
