Ella Minnie Heidrich Hagens The Shiner Gazette - June 23, 1947 Funeral Rites For Mrs. Ed. Hagens Death came as a tender messenger of relief to the patient, tired, struggling soul of Mrs. Ed. Hagens, Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services were conducted from the family home Friday morning at 10 o'clock, with her pastor, the Rev. Edwin Oehlke officiating. A choir of mixed voices, directed by Mrs. Homer Sommerlatte rendered the hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus". Burial was in the City Cemetery with Otto Heerssen, Walter Goetz Jr., Elo Walters, Raymond Dierksen, Adolf Filip and H.G. Koether serving as casket attendants. Mrs. Hagens was formerly Miss Ella Minnie Heidrich. She was born in Gonzales County Feb. 10, 1901, and would soon have reached her forty-sixth birthday anniversary. She was married to Ed. Hagens November 6, 1923 at Dreyer. Four years later they moved to Yoakum and later to Shiner. Three children were born to this union, one son preceded his mother to the grave. Two who are in the home are Harvey and Verline. Other survivors include her Husband, her grief stricken parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albin Heidrich of Shiner, five sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Clara Lockstedt, Mrs. Neddie Lee Voelkel, Yoakum; Mrs. Helen Joost, Moulton; Mrs. Mamie Rhodes, El Paso; Mrs. Martha Wagner, Shiner; Willie Heidrich, Breslau; Adolph, New Mexico; and Chas. Heidrich, Shiner. One sister preceded her to the grave. Mrs. Hagens was a loyal member of the Lutheran Church. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the bereaved family and many friends and relatives who mourn the untimely passing of this devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. Despite all that medical skill and tender nursing could do, God called her to dwell with Him. May she sleep peacefully, and may He who had decreed that she be called to rest, comfort those who morn her home going.
