Bio

Dwight Ross, the son of Edgar and Agnes (Fox) Ross, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on May 6, 1933, and passed away at his home in Aurora, Nebraska, on July 1, 1991, at the age of 58 years, 1 month, and 24 days. He grew up in Stockham, where he attended grade school, and in 1942, the family moved to Aurora, and he continued grade school and graduated from High School in 1950. At age 9, "Whitey" began working for Baehr's Red & White Grocery. Her served his country during the Korean War, from April 13, 1953, to April 12, 1955, in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Corporal. After his discharge he attended electronics school in Omaha for 2 years, and then worked for one year as a railroad mail clerk, out of Omaha. He then returned to Aurora and began working as a sub for the Post Office and also worked part-time at the Red & White Grocery, until becoming a fulltime postal clerk, retiring in October of 1990. "Whitey" was a member of the Selective Service Board in Hamilton County for several years. He also belonged to the Aurora American Legion and the Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Edgar Dean and Dale Owen, and one sister Maxine Elaine, all in infancy. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his sister, Joy Dick, and her husband Earl of Aurora; several nieces and nephews, his co-workers, and many friends.
