When Robert Lee "Bob" Chaney was born on November 19, 1870, in Talladega, Alabama, his father, Thomas, was 33 and his mother, Mary, was 25. He had seven sons and four daughters with Margaret Ann Hinkle. He died on October 17, 1944, in Alice, Texas, at the age of 73 Robert Lee Chaney's death certificate states that he was born 19 Nov 1869 in Alabama to Tom Chaney and Mary McClellan and died 17 Oct. 1944 in Alice, Jim Wells County, Texas The Canton Herald: October 19, 1944: R.L. CHANEY DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER R.L. Chaney, a long time resident of the county passed away Monday at the home of his daughter in Alice. His funeral services and burial were held her Wednesday. No further information was available at the time the paper went to press but his obituary will appear in the next issue of the Herald.
