Bio

He was the son of Louisa A and Jesse Payne. The family moved from Shelby Co, Tennessee to Greene Co, Arkansas about 1835. He married Elizabeth Hall in about 1858 in Greene Co, Arkansas. They then later moved to Hopkins Co, Texas in about 1865. On July 1, 1859, he purchased 80 acres of land in Greene Co, Arkansas. Following the death of Elizabeth, Francis married Mary Caroline Stephenson on Feb 28, 1867 in Hopkins Co, Texas. Later generations started spelling the name PAYNE ∼ Pvt., Military Marker Co. D, 15th TX Inf., C.S.A. Next grave: Private Marker M.C. Payne
