Bio
Daughter of Ramon and Maggie Ann (Eason) Mathis. She was married on December 29, 1947 to James Borden East in Bloomington, TX. She retired from Wise Electric in 1992 after many years as a billing clerk. She had been a member of First Baptist in Decatur since 1960, where she sang in the choir and taught 3rd-4th grade Sunday school. She was a member of Texas Association of Hospital Auxiliaries and logged 4500 hours of volunteering. She was an accomplished seamstress since a young girl and enjoyed making clothes and doing alterations for people. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 69 years, James Borden East; brother, Jack Forest Mathis; and three sisters, Ima Wave Belknap, Allie Belle Florida, and Vonceal Wallace. Survivors include her daughters, Rama Lynn Smith of Berryville, AR, Alean East Zufall and husband, Robert of Houston; sons, Charles Steward East and wife, Holly, and Donald Eugene East and wife, Linda - all of Decatur; grandchildren, Amy Exter, Natalie Lairamore, Lana Boner, Alexis East, Rachel Ryder, Andrew East, Michael East, Jesse East, and Maggie Zufall; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
