Funeral Services for Albert "Al" P. Matteo, age 95, of Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue. Reverend Gordon Braun will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the chapel. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the funeral home's website. Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements. Al passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at The Heritage of Fountain Point in Norfolk. Albert Pascale was born August 31, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska to Angelo and Carmella (Albanese) Matteo. Al grew up in Norfolk. Starting at the age of 15, Al worked as a delivery driver for Coca Cola and Squirt among others. For a majority of his career, he served as a route supervisor for Mid Continent Bottlers. In retirement, he delivered vehicles for local car dealerships. On April 22, 1950, Al married Betty Jean Frank at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. The couple made their home in Norfolk. The couple was blessed with two children, Beverly and Dennis. Al was an avid horseracing fan. He traveled across the country attending horse tracks, and even owned a racing horse named "Deviland Prince". Also, Al was a Hall of Fame Bowler in Norfolk and traveled around the country participating in many national tournaments. However, Al's greatest love was his love for his wife and family. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Cindy) Matteo of Omaha and their children Derek Matteo of San Diego, CA and Tegan Matteo (Erik Steckler) of Eau Claire, WI and their children Kiaran and Kit Steckler; grandchildren, Brent Matteo (Paula Bayne) of Norfolk and their children Drake and Carmella Matteo, Brenda (Paul) Mosel of O' Fallon, MO, and Brian (Sara) Harbottle of Norfolk and their children Hunter and Harper Harbottle; sisters-in-law, Karen Matteo of Norfolk and Priscilla Mazourek of Yankton; and brother-in-law, Don Frank of Omaha. Al was preceded in death by wife, Betty (2016); daughter, Beverly Harbottle (2022); siblings, Anthony (Hazel) Matteo, Caroline (Victor) Dean, Joseph (Delores) Matteo, and Raymond Matteo; sisters-in-law, Gloria (John) Moore and Darlene Frank; and brothers-in-law, Richard (Irene) Frank and Frank Mozourek. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Norfolk.
