Bio

Edward G. Dick, the son of George and Anna (Penner) Dick, was born on a farm South of Hampton, Nebraska, on September 23, 1919, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on May 5, 1996, at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 12 days. He grew up in the York and Hamilton County and Stockham areas, where he attended country schools. He later worked for Farms Co. farming, and was employed at Wortman Motors in the body shop for several years. On December 31, 1953, he was united in marriage to Maxine Heil at Aurora. In 1958, he began Dick's Electric, and he did electrical work on several new schools, churces, and hospitals in the area. In 1992, he was forced to retire due to illness. From 1984 to 1986, he helped his son Mike at the Aurora Airport. He was a former member of the Aurora and Central City Gun Clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting blue rocks. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers, Abe, George, Jake, Herbert, John, Richard, and Robert; and one sister Anne Hoffman. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Maxine of Aurora; 2 sons, Edward L. and his wife Jan of Aurora, and Marion "Mike" and his wife Natalie of Grand Island; one brother Earl of Aurora; 3 sisters, Rose Watson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Marie Hoffman of Aurora, and Eva Friesen of Dallaas, Oregon; 4 grandchildren, Lindsay, Lacey, Katie, and Jamie Dick and 3 step-grandchildren, CeAnn Jankord, Scott and Tim Reiff.
