Donna Brown, age 91, of Brookings, formerly of Madison, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Edgewood Assisted Living in Brookings. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, October 18th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Anthony Urban as the Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Sunday at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM and a Rosary to follow. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30-10:15 AM at the chapel followed by procession to the church for mass. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Chester. Donna Marie Teresa Cassutt was born September 8, 1930, on the family farm near Ramona, SD to Mathias & Marguerite (Mettler) Cassutt. She attended the country schools near her home. Donna met Elvin Brown, Jr. at a dance in Madison and the couple fell in love and got married on April 14, 1948, at the parsonage in Ramona. After farming for several years in the Ramona area, Elvin & Donna retired and moved to Madison in 1998. Donna loved to do gardening, cooking & baking (especially known for her amazing banana bread). She loved hosting family dinners every Sunday in her home. Donna and Elvin went on several bus trips over the years and loved to talk about their travels. She was a member of the Altar Society and the Garden Club. She will be deeply missed by her son, Joe (Becky) Brown of Ramona, SD; son-in-law, David Vickmark of Madison; son, Jack (Ellen) Brown of Brookings; daughter, Cheryl (Kelly) Jones of Madison; daughter, Terri (Steve) Bartel of Madison; son, Jeff (Debbie) Brown of Madison and daughter, Lisa (Gary) Johnson of Madison; her beloved 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Kunovic of Denver and many nieces & nephews. Welcoming her into heaven are her parents; her husband; daughter, Peggy; great-grandson, Briar Bartel; brothers, Tom & John Cassutt; sisters, Francis Cassutt, Mary Slovak, Dorothy Whitethorn, Helen Norman and Catherine Kramer. -Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel
