Bio

Joseph was enumerated on April 29, 1873 in Frelsburg, Colorado County, TX with his parents Albert and Frances Barta and sister Maria. On November 14, 1899 he married Rosie Cunek in Bastrop County, TX. They were living there in 1900 on a farm next to his parents who were also farming. In 1910, Joe and Rosie were living in Smithville where he was doing odd jobs and freighting. He presumably died sometime after that because in 1920 Rosie was a widow and living with her sister Millie and her husband Joe Hofferek. Joe and Rosie had three children: Martha who married Frank Joe Kubacak, Louise Mary who married Henry Edward Strnad, and Albert who was single when he died at the age of 28. The exact location of his burial site is not know but presumed to be Oak Hill because that his where his brother is buried.
