Bio
Rosie Cunek married Joe Barton on 14 Nov 1899 in Bastrop County. On 14 June 1900, they were enumerated living next door to his parents, Albert and Frances Barta, on a farm in Bastrop County. She was 22 years old and gave her birth date as June 1877 and had been born in Texas. Both of her parents were said to have been born in Bohemia. Ten years later on 18 April 1910 Rosa and Joe were in the city of Smithville. He was working at odd jobs and freighting. By now they had two daughters, Mattie [Martha] age six and Louise age four. Their son Albert would be born later that year on 27 Oct 1910. Joe must have died between 1910 and 1920, because on 31 Jan 1920 Rosa was living with her sister Millie Cunek Hofferek and her husband Joe in Bastrop County. She was 40 and widowed. Her daughter Martha and son Albert were with their Aunt Mary Barta Kahanak and husband Frank. Daughter Louise was with her Uncle Charles Barta and his wife Josey. When Rosa's father-in-law Albert Barta died his will was probated on 4 March 1924 in Bastrop County. He named his grandchildren- Martha, Louise, and Albert Barta as son and daughters of Rosa Barta [widow of his son Joseph], leaving each grandchild one dollar. Daughter Martha married Frank Joe Kubacak on 7 Nov 1922 in Granger, Williamson County, TX. On 12 April 1930, Rosie was living with them in Williamson County. She was 51 and widowed. Daughter Louise married Henry Edward Strnad on 5 Feb 1931. On 9 April 1940, Rosie was living with Louise and Henry in Taylor, Williamson County. She was 62 and widowed. When Rosa died on 3 Jan 1960 in the Austin State Hospital she had been there for four months and 29 days. Her usual residence was given as Elgin, Texas. There was no information in her death certificate about her parents. Rosa's sister Amelia "Millie" Cunek Hofferek died November 02, 1941 in Smithville. She is buried in SPJST Kovar Brethren Cemetery, Kovar, Bastrop County, TX next to her husband Joe. Rosa and Millie had a brother Frank Martin Cunek who died October 15, 1950 and is also buried in SPJST Kovar Brethren Cemetery in Kovar.
