Juanita (Kulhanek) Polasek, 88, of Shaws Bend, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Juanita was born in Ellinger, Texas on February 7, 1933, the daughter of Victor and Ottilla (Pavlicek) Kulhanek. She married Garland "Chief" Polasek February 21, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger, TX. Juanita was a homemaker and loved spending her time working in her garden. There was always plenty of vegetables from her garden to eat and give away to her family and friends. Juanita also loved raising her baby calves. Some of Juanita's hobbies included hunting and fishing. She made it a point to take the time out to teach both her children and her grandchildren to fish and hunt. Juanita took the most enjoyment fishing and made it a point to do so until she became ill. Most of all, Juanita was a devoted mother and grandmother. Having her six children were her greatest accomplishment in life. Juanita stressed the importance of family to her kids, and in the value of always putting family first in life. Holidays and Sundays were always set aside for Juanita to prepare family meals over the years. These are memories her entire family will always cherish. Juanita was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger. She was a very faithful woman, and loved attending church. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Bahner and husband, Eddie of Holman, TX; four sons: Stephen Polasek and wife, Patty of Ellinger, TX; David Polasek and wife, Jeanie; Ronnie Polasek and wife, Patricia all of Shaws Bend, TX; and Douglas Polasek and wife, Cindy of Frelsburg, TX; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; two sisters: Dolores Odstrcil and Tillie Ann Meyer and husband, Richard all of Columbus, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garland "Chief" Polasek; son, Garland W. Polasek; and brother, Charlie Kulhanek. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. The funeral mass will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will then follow at the St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery in Ellinger. Pallbearers will be Stephen Helmcamp, Justin Polasek, Derek Bahner, Ryan Polasek, Bradley Polasek, and Dave Polasek. Honorary Pallbearers are Margo Polasek, Amanda Helmcamp, Heidi Boswell, Denise Krc, Jessica Dvorak, Hollie Jobb, and Melissa Garcia.
