Bio
Garland Wayne Polasek, age 70, passed away on February 7, 2021 in Columbus, Texas. He was born to Garland C. and Juanita (Kulhanek) Polasek on August 11, 1950 in La Grange, Texas. In his early years, he was feeding cattle on the Cullen Ranch and worked at the Gidding Texas Auction Sales Barn. He also cut 50 cords of firewood and hauled 50,000 bales of hay per year. For 35 years, he built hundreds of miles of barbed wire fences. He later catered for many functions and donated much time with many meals for St. Mary Catholic Church and the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce for 20 years. He had a great love of playing volleyball and softball for entertainment and loved to fish in the river. Every Monday for over 30 years, he loved to say rosary at St. Mary Catholic Church. He had a great love for God and Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Garland C. Polasek. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Polasek of Shaws Bend, TX; sister, Diane Bahner and husband Eddie of Holman, TX; brothers, David Polasek and wife Jeanie of Shaws Bend, TX, Douglas Polasek and wife Cindy of Frelsburg, TX, Ronald Polasek and wife Patricia of Shaws Bend, TX and Stephen Polasek and wife Patty of Ellinger, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and good friend and business partner, David Lee Zatopek of Shaws Bend, TX. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Henneke Funeral Home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a Parish Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. A private Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary Catholic Church of Ellinger with Fr. Steve Sauser officiating. A private burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Derek Bahner, Ryan Polasek, Anthony Davis, Kaleb Matocha, Stephen Helmcamp and Justin Polasek. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required at all times. Memorials may be made to the Garland W.
