MIKESKA, Rudy of Taylor. Age 68. Died 8/9/1989 (Wed.) at his home surrounded by his familey. Family prayer service held Friday at Condra Funeral Home. Rosary recited 8 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass of Resurrection held (Sunday) from St.Mary's Catholic Church, where he had once served as altar boy. Services celebrated by the Rev. Lonnie Urban, Msgr. Arthur Michalka and Rev. Albert Ruiz. Burial in St.Mary's Cemetery. He was BORN 9/16/1920 in Taylor to the late John and Francis Mikeska. He was a member of the state's largest family barbecue dynasty and a highly-respected member of the Taylor Community. He was known as a generous, but quiet philanthropist. His church was a chief recipient of his thoughts and actions. His enthusiasm was at its highest in his work on the renovation of the church's cemetery in recent years according to Calvin Janak, former Taylor mayor and chairman of the committee. Each of Mr. Mikeska's five brothers became involved in the catering business, and through their closeness, formed what Clem described as the largest catering business in the country. SURVIVORS: Wife, Joy Aline Mikeska; 2 daughters and their families, Judy & Darvin Kaase and their son, David & his wife Charlene; Mopsie & Robert Cavo and their sons, Bobby, Ryan and Luke; son, Tim & his wife, Patti Mikeska and their daughter, Meggie Rae; 5 brothers, John, Louie, Jerry, Maurice and Clem Mikeska; 3 sisters, Martha Vanecek, Val Lindemann and Ann Jozwiak; numerous nieces and nephews.
