HASTINGS -- Raymond M. Pohl, 87, of Hastings, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Perkin Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings. Private family burial following the services. Raymond was born Sept. 8, 1924, to Alexander and Emma (Brym) Pohl in David City. He graduated from David City High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from June 24, 1943, to March 1, 1946, as a staff sergeant. He married Norma J. Pelan on June 29, 1948. They moved to Hastings from Columbus in 1971. He worked as a Lead Communication Tech for Nebraska Public Power District in Hastings. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Amateur Radio Club and Knights of Columbus, all of Hastings. He enjoyed shooting archery and taking care of his flower garden. He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Hastings; son, Scott, and wife, Mary, of Omaha; daughter, Sue Merryfield, and husband, Dave, of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Heather and Joshua; and a brother, Monsignor Daniel Pohl, of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy.
