Wife of George Allen Pryor. Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Pryor Mrs. Elizabeth C. Pryor died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.F. Smith, of Bluff City, Sunday morning Jan. 28, 1906, at 3 o'- clock, after an illness of four days. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, and a true friend to all. Elizabeth Constance Branson was born March 30, 1817 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of eight children of Jonathan and Jennie Branson. She was married to George A. Pryor November 6, 1839. To this union were born seven children, six sons and one daughter. John F., James LaFayette, Mary J., William I., Thomas A., and Jackson F. Pryor, all of whom preceded her to the heavenly home but two, Mrs. F. F. Smith and Thomas A. Pryor, both residing in Bluff City. In 1843 she, with her husband, moved to Illinois coming in a wagon. Arriving in Illinois they settled in what is now Wilberton township, living there until 1863, then moving to Vandalia, staying until 1874, then moving to Bluff City and lived there with her daughter until her death. Mrs. Pryor united with the Baptist Church forty eight years ago and has lived a consistent member until her Master spoke to her these words, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, come up higher." She has been blind for ten years and almost helpless but all was done for her that loving hands could do. She was always kind and cheerful to her daughter who nursed her through months and years of illness and at all times saying she was not afraid to die. The daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren have the comforting thought that she is now an angel for she entered the city of which it is written: "Eye had not seen, nor ear hath not heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared to for them that love Him." There were brief services conducted at the home after which the remains were laid to rest in the Pryor Cemetery. ____________ THE VANDALIA UNION Feb 8, 1906
