Mike Cole, age 71, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at his home. The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 25th at Fonner Park Race Track in Grand Island. The first race of the day will be a Remembrance Race in Honor of Michael (Coley) Cole, a gathering will follow at BT's Lounge. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Michael Raymond Cole, the son of Harold Russell and Jeanice (Sutton) Cole, was born in Osceola, Nebraska on January 23, 1950, and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 20, 2021 at the age of 71. Mike grew up in Wahoo and graduated from Wahoo High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on December 22, 1971. Mike worked for Case New Holland in Grand Island for many years before retiring in 2014. He enjoyed attending the horse races at Fonner Park and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Duane Nitz and brother-in-law, Carl Rice. Those left to cherish his memory are his three brothers, Ronald Cole of Aurora, Russell Cole of Hordville and David Cole of Lincoln; sister, Diane (Nitz) Rice of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews.
