AURORA — Jeanice L. Nitz, 85, formerly of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the Hearthstone in York. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Pastor Barb Johnson will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Jeanice L. Nitz, the daughter of Ivan L. and Blanche F. (Sweeney) Sutton, was born in Silver Creek, Neb., on Nov. 25, 1929, and passed away in York, Neb., on July 21, 2015, at the age of 85. She grew up on a farm near rural Silver Creek and attended Stromsburg High School. Jeanice was united in marriage to Harold Russell Cole and to that union they had four boys. Later she married Charles Nitz and to that union they had two children. Jeanice worked at the Red & White Grocery Store and Bonnavilla. Jeanice had been a member of the Presbyterian U.C.C. in Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles Duane Nitz; and three brothers, Jerome, Walter, Jr. and Leland Larson. Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Michael Cole of Grand Island, Ronald Cole of Aurora, Russell Cole of Hordville and David Cole of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Nitz) and Carleton Rice of Horseheads, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, seven grandsons and four granddaughters, 16 great-grandchildren, five great-grandsons and 11 great-granddaughters. She is also survived by two brothers, Gayle (Sharon) Larson of Hastings and Frank Larson of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.
