Beard, 44, who died at her home. in Johnson Chapel community Monday night, were held Wednesday afternoon from Hopewell Methodist church. The Rev. Wayne McCleskey, pastor of the First Methodist church officiated. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. George McWhorter, Shady Grove; Shirley Louise Beard; two sons, Don Wesley and Kenneth Dean Beard of the family home; one grandchild; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Woodin of Wood county; three brothers, J.C. and Sherman Woodin, Dallas, Woodrow Woodin, Latch; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Wilson, Mrs. Herman Langford, Dalas [sic], Miss Sylvia Woodin, Latch. Mrs. Beard was born Carrie Maye Woods in Wood county August 10, 1903. She had been a resident of Upshur county since 1933, and a member of the Methodist church fifteen years. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Wilson, Herman Langford, Dallas; George Gaston, Tim Willis Johnson Chapel; George McWhorter, Shady Grove; J.C. Gaston, Latch.
