JAMES, Ben Allen of Thorndale. Age 83. Died 9/3/1964 (Thursday) in Houston where he had been living since February of 1964. Services held (Sat.) at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale. Burial in Milano Cemetery. Rev. Richard Sparks officiated. He was BORN 4/29/1881 in Temple, Bell County, Tx., to M/M. S.W. James. Resided a few years in Falls Co., then made his home in Milam Co. Married Miss Addie Taylor in 1904, who preceded him in death in 1921. He later married Mrs. Odie Bryant Fretwell in 1937 and she preceded him in death in 1959. Member of the Baptist Church in early manhood. Made friends easily and loved people. SURVIVORS: 2 sons, B. Allen James of Houston and Pete C. James of Seagoville; daughter, Mrs. Lowell (Louella) Howe of Houston; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews.
