Bio
Pete Coleman James, 94, died March 26, 2001 in Mesquite TX. Services at Wilkirson Hatch chapel with burial in Rosemound Cemetery. Mr. James was born May 20, 1906 in Thorndale TX. He served in the Marine Corps from 1925 to 1933 and during WWII from 1943 to 1944, also serving in the reserves. He worked in construction in Dallas, Arkansas, California, and Alaska, settling in Dallas in 1940. He and his wife owned a truck farming business and sold produce at the Dallas Farmers Market for over 40 years. On May 24, 1953 he confirmed his presence to God and Oak Cliff Lutheran Church in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie and Ben James of Thorndale and a brother, Allen James of Houston. Survivors include: his wife of 68 years, Minnie Margaret Ashleman James of Dallas; daughter, Carole Ann Bawcum of Dallas; sister, Lou Ella Howe of Houston; grandson, Henry Bawcum and wife Valerie Crowe of Garland; granddaughter, Carrie Knocksen and husband Eric of Hutchins; great-grandsons; Pete James O'Connor of Plano, and Lathe Alexander Bawcum, step-great-grandsons, Matt and Kenny Crowe all of Garland.
