John Arthur James, Sr. was born on February 22, 1879, in Thorndale, Texas, to Harriett Ellen Williamson and Samuel Williams James John married Idella Story who was the daughter of Monora Story and Lutheria (Moore) Story. John and Idella had the following eleven children: Jesse William James, Frankie James, Lela Bell James, John Arthur James Jr, Menora James, Dovie Lou James, Henry James, Ernestine Della James, Callie Lee James, Eloise James, and Lawrence Arthur James. ***Occupation: In early years, worked for the Railroad in Temple, Texas.
