https://www.yandaandsonfuneralhome.com/obituary/donald-rubes Donald James Rubes August 22, 1931 - February 03, 2021 DONALD'S OBITUARY U.S. Veteran Donald James Rubes 89 years old was born August 22, 1931 in Banner, Okla. to James and Agnes (Hucek) Rubes. He went to sleep in Christ on February 3, 2021 in Yukon. Don grew up in Banner, Oklahoma and graduated from Yukon High School in 1949. He grew up with a very strong Catholic heritage and was a devout Catholic. He was an altar boy and attended St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church throughout his life. He grew up farming the family land producing cattle, cotton, and corn. Don was called to service for his country in the Army, in the Transportation Battalion in Korea from January 1954-December 1955. On September 7th, 1959 he married Billie J. (Bartodej) at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and they were married for 53 years. Don attended Oklahoma State University of Agriculture & Applied Science in Oklahoma City and graduated with an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology in 1971. Don worked 35 years as an Aircraft & Powerplant Mechanic at Rockwell International in Bethany, Okla. which eventually merged into Gulfstream Aerospace. Don also had a very strong Czech heritage. He spoke the Czech language and attended many dances at the Czech Hall in Yukon. He also enjoyed attending many Czech festivals and dances with his family. He always made sure to dance many dances with each one of his daughters. Don loved to listen to Czech music and it always put a β€œpep” in his step when listening. Don loved to go to garage sales, tinker in his garage and was an avid gardener. He would have a garden all year round, and he passed his gardening passion on to his children. Even though he enjoyed these things, the most important thing in Don’s life was his family. Don is survived by daughters: Kelly Zrubek & husband, Darwin of Granger, TX; Sidney Rubes-Adams & husband, Ed of Yukon; Carla Miller & husband, Eric of Yukon; son, James Rubes and Amber Wagaman of Yukon; and grandchildren: Lynley Wagner & Chas Wagner. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billie; daughter, Agnes β€œAggie” Rubes; daughter-in-law, Christy Rubes; sisters, Mae Krivank and Lorene Fuksa and brother, Ernest Rubes. Viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2021 and 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 8. Wake and Rosary services will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, February 8, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
