Funeral services for Mr. Edgar Perkins, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2005 in the Rush Chapel, Oakdale – Downtown Location with Reverends Donald Scott and Bert Riddle officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Occupy # 2 Cemetery, Pitkin under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mr. Perkins, 84, of Pitkin entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 in his residence with his family near to his side. He was a member of Occupy # 2 Baptist Church and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He attended Louisiana Tech University and retired as Fire Chief from the Ft. Polk fire department after 30 years of service. As a World War II veteran he served in the Battle of Rhineland, the Battle of the Bulge and was stationed in Berlin, Germany during the fall of Berlin. He was a field medic for Company E 310th Infantry 78th Division. He ended his military duties serving as a Technical Sargent. Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by one grandson, David Christopher Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Marie LaCaze Perkins of Pitkin; one son, Edgar Perkins, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Metairie; three daughters, Linda Keen of Huntsville, Alabama, Charlene Babcock and her husband, Rod of Pitkin and Betty McCartney and her husband, Jim of Ottawa Lake, Michigan; six grandsons, six granddaughters, five great grandsons and two great granddaughters. Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale – Downtown Location from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2005 and from 8:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, September 30, 2005. Honored to serve, as pallbearers are his grandsons, Brandon Perkins, Cody McCartney, Jeff Keen, Matthew Babcock, Michael Babcock and Stacey Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Charlie Cloud, Gervis Cloud, Larry Wayne Perkins, Clyde Cloud and Johnny Mac Cloud.
