Bio
Margaret Tipton, 87, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 09, 2020, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on May 5, 1933 in Jamestown, Tennessee the daughter of Guy and Gladys (Littrel) Williams. Margaret graduated from York Agricultural Institute in Jamestown and later graduated from Beauty school. She married the love of her life Carrol Winston Tipton on February 19, 1951 in Livingston, Tennessee and he survives. Mrs. Tipton had owned and operated Margaret’s Beauty Shop and later worked for Service America Corporation, managing vending machines in the Westinghouse Plant later known as ABB, prior to her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the True Light Baptist Church, enjoyed doing crafts and making wedding cakes for family and close friends. She loved being Grandma and her grandchildren loved her cooking especially when it involved canned green beans and canned corn she had put up. Besides her husband of 69 years, Winston, she is survived by a daughter, Dolores Lipscomb (Companion-Clarke Payne), Muncie; her son, Michael Tipton (Nancy), Anderson; five grandchildren, Trevor Lipscomb (Angie), and Diedra Lipscomb-Brown, both of Muncie, April Mavis (Brad) Lakeland, Florida, Jody Moll (Jason), Warner Robins, Georgia and Jessica Oleck (Ryan), Whitset, North Carolina; her sister, Jonelda Blalock, Knoxville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; six siblings. Visitation for Margaret Tipton will be held at the True Light Baptist Church located at 805 North Country Club Rd. Muncie, IN 47303 on Monday December 14, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 14, 2020 at the True Light Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow at the Tomlinson Cemetery.
