Opal Viola Baugh Valentine was the 1st daughter and the 1st child of Jesse Washington Baugh, Sr. and Monnie Geneva Bateman Baugh. She married Raymond Henry Valentine, Sr. on Nov 12, 1932 in Willow Springs, TX, Van Zandt Co. They had 3 sons and 7 daughters. Source of Obituary, Edgewood Enterprise dated Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998. Services for Opal V. Valentine, 87, of Edgewood, were held November 29 at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood. She died November 27 at Crestwood Nursing Home at Wills Point after a long illness. Services were directed by Eubank Funeral Home of Canton. Officiating the service were Rev. David Tomme, Rev. Jim Ballard, and Rev. Steve Glosup. Interment was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood. Valentine was born November 8, 1911 in Glen Rose, Texas. Valentine was a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be sorely missed. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication to her family. Her love of Jesus Christ and her family was unconditional and never wavered. Opal was a unique individual with a strong will, but tender heart. Her main focus in life was to provide well for her family. She had hardships to endure throughout her life but always trusted the Lord to help her overcome them and, with God's help, lived a full life. The impact on those she loved and served will never be forgotten. Mrs. Valentine was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgewood. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, working with her husband in the farm bureau and studying God's word. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jesse and Monnie Bateman Baugh; two brothers: John D. and Junior Baugh; one grandchild; and one great grandchild. She is survived by her husband of 66 years: Brother Raymond H. Valentine, Sr.; children: Guinave Hawkins, Raymond Henry Valentine, Jr., and Lindley Glen Valentine of Edgewood; Selma Rhea Dawson, Canton; Monnie Idella Furrh, Sunnyvale; Skippie Lou Walker, Hurst; Ella Mae Valentine, Mesquite; Estella Fay Chitty, and Jesse Andrew Valentine, Wills Point; and Delsa Ruth Sellers, Pennsboro, West Virginia. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. Mrs. Valentine has five surviving brothers: M. J., Tommy, Billy Joe, Devon, and Leonard Baugh. She survived by dear friends: Mr. & Mrs. Elgin McLaurin of Laverne, Oklahoma, as well as a host of friends and relatives. Jean Wallace Bateman Family History
