Skippie Walker Dec 24, 1942 - Oct 20, 2024 Beloved wife, mom, sister and friend, Skippie Lou Walker, 82 years old, and a resident of Forney, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2024. Skippie was born at home on December 24, 1942. She grew up on her family's farm in Edgewood, TX. After graduating from high school, she attended Henderson County Junior College, now Trinity Valley Community college, for a couple of years and eventually moved to Dallas, TX to work for Southwestern Bell. She retired from Southwestern Bell after 33 years of service as an Ad Valorem Tax Manager. After retiring from Southwestern Bell, she worked at the Tarrant County Tax office for a few years as well. She was a dedicated woman of her faith and volunteered at her church, First Baptist Church of Forney, in the front office, vacation bible school, Cubbies and managed the maintenance of the missionary house for approximately 5 years. Skippie was a member of the Forney Garden Club for 10 years serving various positions including the final 4 as the club president. She dedicated her time to help improve the gardens in the city. Skippie enjoyed canning and sharing her jellies, pickled okra and many more items with her family and friends. She loved family get togethers, spending time with her grandchildren and just loved all children. Skippie was such a bright light to everyone she knew and was always a great encouragement to all that crossed her path. Her joy was contagious and her love for her family was evident. Her surviving relatives include her spouse Loyal Eugene Walker, and children Layron & Darlene Halbrook, Laura & Joel Groves, Mark & Kristi Walker, Kim Scoggins, grandchildren Jace & Malissa Halbrook, DaNeill Reyenga, Blaise & Brianna Halbrook, Alexandria Groves, Brianna Groves, Miranda Groves, Levi Groves, Matt Scoggins, Monica, Darcee Faulk, Nancy Jenkins, Meagan Halbrook and many many great grandchildren, siblings Selma Dawson, Glenn (Buzzy) Valentine, Mae Valentine, Fay Chitty, Ruth Sellers, and Jesse Valentine as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, her church family and countless friends. Preceding her in death are her loving parents, Raymond Henry Valentine, and Opal Viola Baugh Valentine; her siblings: Guinave Valentine Hawkins, Monnie Idella Furrh, Raymond (Buddy) Henry Valentine Jr. and her stepson, John Allen Walker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, on Friday October 25, 2024 at the Forum of First Baptist Church of Forney with visitation starting at 10:00am to service time. Graveside committal service will be at 2:30pm, Friday, at Highland Cemetery in Canton, TX. As much as Skippie loves flowers, she also loved spreading the Gospel to the world.
