Funeral services for the Rev Msgr Frank D. Urbanovsky of Houston were held February 14, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston with Archbishop Patricio Flores of San Antonio as Celebrant, Bishop Joseph Fiorenza and the auxiliary bishops and priests of the diocese as concelebrants. Pallbearers were priests of the diocese. Burial was in the Garden of Gethsemane in Forrest Park Lawndale in Houston under the direction of Earthman Funeral Home. Msgr Urbanovsky was born in West on December 30, 1900, the son of the late Vinc and Rozina Urbanovsky of West. He passed away on February 10, 1991, at the age of 90 years. He was the oldest priest of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. He was a pioneer in the Hispanic Ministry and traveled throughout Central and Southeast Texas in a mobile chapel named Espiritus Santo for 25 years. His pastoral assignments were at Guardian Angel Church in Pasadena, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Houston, and Resurrection Church, in Houston. Other pastoral assignments were in West, Bryan, and Caldwell. Among his Hispanic parishioners, he was known as "Padre Panchito." Msgr Urbanovsky was ordained a Catholic priest on April 16, 1927, and said his first Holy Mass in St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West on April 20, 1927. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Annie Hajek, and her husband, Victor, of Fort Worth, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Amalie Urbanovsky of Abbott, and a large number of nieces and nephews, and cousins.
