Lewis F Wendt obituary, Native Polk County, He was employed here in Grand Island Nebraska as a mechanic. Lewis F Wendt 50, a resident of Grand Island for 48 years, died early this morning in a local hospital where he had been receiving treatment for Stomach Cancer for about a month. The family home is at 112 E. seventh in Grand Island. Wendt was born February nineteenth 1898 in Polk County to Frederick and Louisa Wendt. He and Miss Edith Humphrey were married October 22nd, 1917 at Hastings. Het was a mechanic by trade. During WW11 he worked at the Navel ammunition plant in Hastings, Nebraska. Surviving are his wife, one son Ralph D Wendt, of Grand Island three daughters, Dorothy, Marvel and Paula went, all of Grand Island; two brothers Henry went of Grand Island and William Wendt of Sterling Colorado; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Rinke and Mrs. Sophie Hayes? both of Grand Island and Miss Frank Bahr of Melbourne Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents one brother and one sister funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later. Doctor Frank Peyton pastor of the Congregational church in Grand Island will conduct the services and burial will be in the Doniphan Cemetery
