Grand Island Daily Independent Thursday 18 Oct 1973 Funeral rites for Mrs. Edith Wendt, widow of Louis F. Wendt and a native of the Doniphan community, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. committal will be in Cedarview Cemetery at Doniphan. The rosary was to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the funeral home. Visitations were to be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wendt died Wednesday morning. She had been in ill health for several years. Mrs. Edith Irene Wendt was born Sept. 14, 1898, at Doniphan, to George H. and Nancy Munroe Humphrey. She attended school and grew to young womanhood in the community of her birth. On Oct. 22, 1917, she married Louis Wendt at Hastings. Except for a short period, during which they resided at Sterling, Colo., they had made their home in Grand Island. Mr. Wendt died in June of 1948. Mrs. Wendt was a member of the Catholic Church. She no longer maintained social affiliations. She is survived by one son, Ralph of Redlands, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs./ George Molczyk of Grand Island, Mrs. Marcel Hoover and Mrs. Paula Wetzel, both of Central city; a brother, Leslie of Grand Island; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Shaver of Grand Island and 15 grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a brother.
