Houston Chronicle, October 2000: Adolph Charles "A.C." Schiller of Spring, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2000, at the age of 92. He received a B.S. from the University of Texas and Masters from the University of Houston. In 1932, he was named All-American and was S.W.C. record holder in the 800 yd. run. He was a competitor in the preliminary tryouts which were held by the American Olympic Committee to select a team to represent the U.S. for the Olympics in 1932. In 1966, Mr. Schiller was enshrined in the Longhorn Hall of Honor and retired from teaching in 1973 after 40 years of service. He also retired from the insurance business in 1982 after 28 years of service. Mr. Schiller is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Dare Schiller; daughter, Janice Schiller Spencer; son, Wayne Schiller; daughter-in-law, Janet Schiller; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Stacy. Visitation will be Monday, October 9, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be in the Family Chapel Tuesday at 12 noon; entombment will follow in the Abbey Mausoleum immediately following. Special thanks to the Hospice Care Team, Inc. and Autumn Hills Nursing Home. In lieu of usual remembrances, please contribute to the American Cancer Society in his name.
