Services for Teddy Joe Jones, 75, of Gainesville were held Thursday at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Chapel officiated by Lyndon Lee. Mr. Jones died Sept. 6, 2008 at North Texas Medical Center. He was born Oct. 27, 1932 in Thackerville, Okla. to George and Maggie Magill Jones. On June 5, 1953, he married Shirley Koonce in Gainesville. Teddy Joe Jones commenced work at Parker Electric in Sept. 20, 1955 and continued working until he retired in November 1998. Ted was one of four men who formalized the idea of the Congressional Medal of Honor Host City program and served on the original board. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jones; daughters and sons-in-law, Melvena and E.B. Byerly; Ann and Paul Pershica; son, Michael Jones, son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Jones; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, siblings, George Jones, Jr; Joyce McKay; Gene Jones; Sally Garcia; Ruth Johnson; Bill Jones; Bob Jones and Dolly Bone; inlaws, Jim and Margaret Coulter; Tena Lee; Joe and Reba Buck. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maggie Jones; by his brothers, Jack, Earl and David Jones and by a great grandson, Garrett McPherson. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the VISTO Back Pack Buddy Program; Home Hospice of Cooke County, Box 936, Gainesville, TX 76241 or to the Charity of one’s choice. Geo. J.
