[2] Nina P.Moriaity,Married 2-17-1908.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grand Island Daily Independent Monday 14 October 1946 p. 4:2 Mann Services Next Thursday Burial at Wood River for Retired Farmer Funeral services for Norton Mann, retired farmer and a life-long resident of Hall county, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Livingston Sonderman funeral home by Rev. Wayne A. Dalton, pastor of the Baptist church. Burial will be in the Wood River cemetery. Mr. Mann died early Saturday morning in a Lincoln hospital following an illness of two months. He had entered the hospital on Sept. 6 for surgical treatment. Mr. Mann was a native of the Cairo community, where he was born on Sept. 5, 1874 to William and Mary Ann Mann. He married Miss Bessie May Spink there. Mrs. Mann died at Cairo in 1903. On Feb 26, 1904, at Cairo, he and Miss Moriarity were married. They made their home at Cairo until 1913 when the family came to Grand Island. Mrs. Mann died June 23, 1936. Mr. Mann continued to maintain his farm home on the west edge of the city until ill health forced him to quit a few months ago. His only social affiliation was with the Grand Island chapter of War Dads. HE gave seven of his sons to the service during World War II. He is survived by eight sons, Francis, Spickard, Mo.; Cecil, William, Roy and Kenneth, all of Grand Island; Harry, Denver, Colo.; and Lewis and John, Albion, Ore.; four daughters, Mrs. Sam Woodard, Lincoln; Mrs. John Budd, Albion, Ore.; and Mrs. Edith Christensen and Miss Margaret Mann, both of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by two sons, the late Calvin Mann, and Pvt. Chester Mann, who died in the sinking of a Japanese prison ship on Oct. 24, 1944. Friends may call at the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home on Wednesday evening between the hours of 7 and 9 o'clock.
