Bio

Rhoda Johnson Bailey, 90, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at 6:12 pm surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 7, 1934, in Pitkin La. Rhoda dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 46 years, Alfred "Bud" Bailey and their 11 children. Rhoda's greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving home for her large, close-knit family. Rhoda loved to cook for her children. Her homemade cat head biscuits and banana pudding were legendary, and she delighted in teaching the recipe to each new generation. Rhoda's love for nurturing things was evident in her beautiful garden, which she lovingly tended to, she cultivated not only spectacular gardens but also a family rooted in love and respect. She is survived by her children Vivian Foster, of Dequincy, Rick Bailey, wife Dorie of DeRidder, Sherry Ellison, husband Fred, of DeRidder, Rodney Bailey, wife Kayla of DeRidder, Kim Ott, husband Frank of DeRidder, Pam Bailey of DeRidder, David Bailey of DeRidder and Randy Bailey, wife Chasi of DeRidder, 28 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 46 years, Alfred Eugene "Bud" Bailey, one son Elmer Hargrove and two daughters Susan Pauline Bailey and Rhoda Arleen Daniels, 3 sisters, Ruth Davis, Addis Weldon, Gladys Barmore and one brother, Lavelle "Buddy" Johnson, and her parents Johnny and Mary Johnson. A celebration of Rhoda's life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. The interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery. The pallbearers are Rayce Bailey, Josh Foster, Chris Foster, Daniel Bailey, Billy Bailey, and Alex Ellison. Honorary pallbearers are B.J. Mellon and Buddy Mellon, Devin Bailey.
