Bio

LEHMAN, John E. of Thorndale. Age 74 yrs, 11 mos., 1 day. Died 1/15/1952, he had suffered a stroke 1/4/1938 and until the day of his death (14 years) lay in bed paralyzed and often in pain. Graveside services held in St.Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery. He was BORN 2/14/1877 in Fedor, TX. Baptized 2/25/1877 and confirmed 3/22/1891 by Pastor G. Birkmann. Moved to Thorndale in 1900 and after working for several farmers, he bought his own farm. Married Miss Martha Niemtschk in Fedor on 2/11/1902. Living on his own farm from 1902 to 1952, they reared 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. His wife preceded him in death in 8/1951. SURVIVORS: 4 sons, Richard, Martin and Otto of Thorndale and Arnold of Tahoka; 5 daughters, Mrs. Alma Felfe, Mrs. Amanda Felfe, Mrs. Amalia Schneider, Mrs. Adele Woelfel, all of Thorndale and Mrs. Ottilie Melcher of Fedor; brother, Ben Lehman of Hillsboro; sister, Mrs. Theo Markert of Thorndale; 36 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
