LEHMAN, Mrs. Martha Niemtschk of Thorndale. Age 72 yrs. 7 mos. 14 days. Died 8/22/1951 (Wed.) at John's Hospital, Taylor, where she was taken the day before. Services held 8/24 (Friday) in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Thorndale. She was BORN 1/8/1879 in Germany. Baptized in her infancy. At age of 7, she left Europe to make her home in the U.S. First lived in Lincoln, TX., where she was confirmed on 3/26/1893 by Pastor Ernst. Married John E. Lehman on 2/11/1902 by Pastor Birkmann in Fedor. Union blessed with 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. Shortly after the wedding the couple moved to Thorndale and lived on the same farm for 49 years. She was a diligent housewife, companion to her husband and a kind and loving mother to her children. Daughter of Andreas Niemtschk & Clara Richter.
