Jean McKinney departed this world to spend the rest of eternity with her Lord and Savior. She was born to J.D. and Nettie Owens Prater. She married R.L. McKinney and that marriage was blessed with six children. She loved her family and dedicated herself to be the best mother that she could be. She loved to cook and loved to feed people. She also loved to sing, loved life and loved Jesus with all her heart. She was a dedicated Christian and faithful member of the Elkhart Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, R.L. McKinney; sisters, Lucille Hanks and Gladys Herod; brothers, J.D. Prater, Jr. and Charles Prater; and grandson, Scott McKinney. She is survived by a loving family of four daughters, Beverly Anderson Sartain (Nolan), Cathy Huddleston (Roy), Becky Harman (Jimmy) and Freida Starr (Charles); two sons, David McKinney (Cathey) and Ronnie McKinney (Shirley); 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. Funeral services will be at Rhone Memorial Chapel; interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Due to the present Covid-19 danger, facemasks are required for the visitation and funeral service.(Rhone Funeral Home 6/27/2020)
