Funeral Tuesday for Dora Hopkin (Mon 3-15-65) Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Hopkin, 89, Columbus, be held at 1:30pm Tuesday at Gass Funeral Home, where the body now lies in state. The Rev. Henry C. Beatty will officiate, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Hopkin died Saturday morning at Social Center rest home in Osceola, where she had been ill since April. She was born Sept. 6, 1875 in Black Hawk County, IA. The daughter of Henry and Julia Rice Jacobs, and attended rural school in Butler County. On Jan 24, 1895, she was married to George Hopkin at David City, and they farmed three miles west of Bellwood. They moved to Columbus in 1946. Mrs. Hopkin was associated with the Methodist church. Surviving are one son, Bennie of Omaha; one daughter, Mrs Walter (Ilena) Nauenburg of Columbus; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers Henry M. Jacobs of Columbus and Raymond of California; and three sisters, Mrs. Roy Brink of Neligh, Mrs Fritz Gensicken of Sioux City and Mrs. Irene Doan of California. Mrs. Hopkin was preceded in death by her husband in 1956; one son George Leslie; two daughters, Myrtle and Irene; six brothers George, Harvey, Harley, Ocie, Arthur, and Emerald Jacobs, and one sister Mrs. Alta Engle.
