Bio

Obituary- A DEVOTED WIFE AND MOTHER Julia Anna Rice was born in Blackhawk, Iowa April 6, 1856. She was married to Henry Clinton Jacobs at Waterloo, Iowa July 4, 1872. She came with her husband and five children to Nebraska, locating in Knox County in the Spring of 1881, moving from there to Butler County in the fall of 1890 and from there to Dixon County in 1895, where they have since resided. Mrs. Jacobs was the mother of thirteen children, eight boys and five girls, all of them are still living and with one exception were all present at the funeral. They are Arthur, Harvey, Harley, Emerald, Mrs Altie Engel, Mrs. Irene Doan all of Dixon County; George of Mission Hill, South Dakota; Mrs Dora Hopkins of Butler County, Nebraska; Ocie of Cossica, South Dakota; Mrs Eva Brink of Neligh, Nebraska; Henry of Butler County, Nebraska; Mrs Elsie Gensichen of Walthill, Nebraska; Raymond of Delmont, South Dakota. Mrs. Jacobs was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor. She died triumphant in the faith into which she was baptized when a girl fifteen years old. With her loved ones by her bedside in the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City anxiously waiting and expecting the end, she broke out in song and sang one verse and chorus of that gold old song, "Yes, We'll Gather at the River," and taking Dora by the hand she exclaimed, "It is all right,"and calmly and peacefully passed away July 4, 1622. The deceased leaves to mourn her departure a broken hearted husband, and thirteen children, twenty six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
